18" is a decent size chain and will hang down more so that it will not end up chocking you. As the pendant is not a small one, (approx. 3/4" x 1/2"), it's probably not a good idea to put it on a choker chain as it does have some weight to it. We grade this as a AA rated Cubic, as it is a nice Cubic Zirconia. We have seen nicer but not often.

Scale Grading
We grade on a scale of A-AAA with AAA being the best. Some grade on scales that use 3 and more As as in AAAA or AAAAA or even more. To us, as gemologists, there is no difference between a AAA graded stone than one that is graded at AAAAA or more. One would think that a stone rated at AAAAA would be better than one rated at 3A but it's deceptive. We suggest staying away from vendors who grade stones with any other scale than A-AAA; and this goes the same for pearls. We do not have an issue with AAA+ if its a really unique stone, not often seen; but other than that we don't deal with unscrupulous suppliers. You should also avoid.

Chain and Size Mentions
Many prefer dainty pendants and necklaces and perhaps that is true for some; but we've seen many who prefer a much more durable chain that does not tangle up and breaks. Small chains are beautiful, we agree; however, the issue we have with small pendants and chains, is that it's hard at times to tell what exactly the gemstone in them actually are and the clasps are sometimes so dainty that it's difficult without assistance to even put it on; let alone take it off. Many will out of frustration, just break it off. Of course, with this one, you don't have that issue.

Many sell pendants and add various chains they may have in stock. And although this does work, we believe that one has to be aware of how the pendant will look with the added chain. It has to be a match made in jewelry heaven in other words; and this one compliments it. It's not the cheapest chain you can buy, and it's not plated silver. It's quality made with fine Sterling Silver and the Lobster is also solid sterling; much like the setting; all made in the USA. We could have put a larger lobster on it but then it would not quite compliment the product. Either way you decide if the chain works for this pendant or not.

Protected from Tarnish with Renaissance Wax. A micro-crystalline wax, used by museums to protect fine artwork and jewelry.

Care
Clean with a soft toothbrush and a mild dish detergent (Blue Dawn Recommended) and lightly polish. If you need a more through cleaning then try not to touch the Cubic with any Tarnish removers or polishes. Cubic Zirconia, though many may say otherwise; is a porous stone so you need to be aware of that as it will cloud up in time. Keep it cleaned and you will like how it functions for a long time. If you just let it go, it will get cloudy overtime, much quicker; and will most likely do so anyway; regardless of cleaning. How long will it take to turn this way; is anyone's guess; but if you keep it cleaned, it should last a long time. If you do not take care to maintain it; it may cloud up quicker. Do not be fooled by those who state that Cubic Zirconia won't cloud up; it will. Even the best Cubic you can buy will do this. It is caused by dirt, grime and grease and oils from the body and otherwise that gets lodged in the micro-porous crevices which is near impossible to remove. Overtime, it builds up.
