Quality settings. We have also added Renaissance wax to aid in tarnish protection. This wax is used by Museums to protect a variety of pieces including valuable artwork and jewelry. it gives it a nice sheen and works quite well. We use it for our own personal jewelry as well. We do not sell it but other Etsy sellers do, whom we also buy it from. Check it out; we highly recommend getting some for yourself.
We tried to give a good photo display but photos do not give justice to the primary stone. It truly is a nice stone in person. And we have seen many!
We grade most lab rubies around AA and rarely to the point of AAA. We however grade this Ruby as AA-AAA. This is a very nice lab created ruby with very small presence of pinks and even purples which many seem to have. The only thing that differentiates this Ruby from a natural ruby is that it is too nice internally. Otherwise it could easily pass for a natural ruby.
Many rubies today are filled with lead glass or otherwise as they are prone to not only fracturing but heavy inclusions as well; and more so as they get larger. For this reason, we do not use such stones in jewelry; particularly rings. Lead glass rubies in particular as one can easily ruin them with even household bleaches and lemon Juice.
See our Blog Article pertaining to this matter. https://notjuststones.com/blog/avoid-lead-glass-filled-rubies-in-your-jewelry-particularly-rings-f60b73/
Do not be taken for a ride when it comes to many rubies on the market today; unless they are natural; you do not want to use many in rings. And it is very common today that you will see many that will be glass filled.
Some say this is okay; and many people will buy them, but you do need to be aware how simple issues can create many problems for them. Though vendors may not disclose these facts; you do need to be aware of what you are buying as well as how to take care of them. Marketplaces are full of them today.
So be careful and please take a moment to educate yourself with our Blog Post. Using Ultra-Sonic or Steam Cleaners are out of the question with Glass Filled Rubies and simple cleaning solutions, lemon and even lime juice can result in destroying them. Simple household bleach as well. This however is not going to be the case with Lab Created stones though you should of course protect your jewelry in any case.
In terms of testing this ruby, created with Synthetic Corundum, the same mineral as a natural Ruby, it may test with similar properties as natural rubies would.
Unfortunately supplies are currently limited. In comparing, a natural Ruby of this size and quality would be into the 10s of thousands; and due to its internal beauty; would be a rare one indeed; costing you well over 1 million if you could even get one.
There is no special care needed for this stone.
As with the most popular Jeweler's Insurance agency, Jeweler's Mutual, we recommend the same care for most stones and your jewelry. Use warm water, a soft tooth brush, and a mild dish detergent that do not contain dying or bleaching agents (Blue Dawn recommended) and then polish up. For a more through cleaning take to a qualified jeweler and disclose any known treatments etc. that your gemstones may have. If you Tarnish Removers, try to be careful to not get it on your gemstones.
