Beautiful medium shades of Smoky Quartz Gemstone. Normal heating which is stable. This gemstone is a product of Brazil. And keep in mind that 90% or more of all gemstones hitting the market today have been heated or treated in one way or another. Brazil supplies in excess of 80% of all gemstones next to Africa. Many times you will see Clear Quartz that has been Irradiated. This of course can bring out the browns you see in Smoky Quartz; however in many cases, these stones will show far deeper shades of brown; and some approaching very deep brown/ even black colors.
No Special care is required. Ultrasonic and steam cleaning should be fine for this gemstone. Beautiful Cut Gemstone.
Clean with warm water, a soft tooth brush and a mild dish detergent (Blue Dawn Recommended) and polish. You should be fine. If you need a more through cleaning, try not to touch the stones with any Tarnish removers; or take to a jeweler. Personally we avoid general store bought tarnish removers but it may be a personal taste. Keep in mind the above notes about heating and treating relating to world gemstone supplies; as such, it is a good idea to be proactive when cleaning any of your jewelry at home.
Avoid harsh sunlight and long periods or high heat and humidity: gemstones do not like these environments. Even though they spend the majority of their lives underground; they like the AC just as we humans do. One thing you will notice with natural gemstones, many may warm up in the hand, but they are generally cool to the touch before; even in hot humid climates. And they revert back to being cooler shortly after being put down.
We have some natural Teal Blue Sapphires that are not that pretty and quite dark but they are very cold to the touch. Unlike many others which we have which are cool but not as cold. Of all the gemstones we have acquired in collecting, these are the only ones that have been as cold. Again, not very pretty and would be almost black when set; but they are 100% natural.
