Pictures
are not enhanced and the color closely matches what is seen in person
though it may seem to be a bit lighter green but not by much. A
handmade
one of a kind stone. The best photo for this stone is the one where the other stones are included in the background. These stones are for display only and not sold as part of this product. Best color information would be blue green with tan areas and minimal darker spots
As
Bench Jewelers, Gem Dealers and collectors of stamps and coins we
have scoured the globe for over 35 years to bring the best gemstones
to the customer. And compensating for those that may not be the
best; handcrafting them from our location in beautiful Idaho, or from
Panama. We do not cut corners and use completely raw materials to
finished products. And then polish it up with some Tripoli and Rouge
to give it that nice shine. Many Jeweler's and designers will glue
cabs in the settings or add other things like sawdust even; which
some refer to as Jeweler's Sawdust. Simply put it's quite common with
vintage turquoise pieces and it's just normal sawdust. Some
will also use things like old phonograph records or other materials
to level it. This used to be quite common with Opals referred to as
the Black Potch on the back of the opal.
Yet when it
comes to doing such matters with Cabs like these, we won't ever do
that. If we can't fit the stone in the setting right, then we will
build one that it works for. As every stone is unique; that is what
we focus on. We respect the gemstones and if we can't make the
setting fit, then we scrap it and start again. You can be sure this
gemstone is not coming out without excessive force and does not
wiggle or is loose in the setting. It may take more time for us to do
this, and a bit of precision perhaps; but we want the housing to fit
the stone.
Before setting it, we completely polish the
inside. The customer may not ever see behind the stone into the
setting but in respect for the stones, we don't set them in a dirty
house. They are natural gemstones and like people; they are
one-of-kind. We don't use other substances with them to get them to
fit right. You can be sure of this. And then we stamp it
with our stamp. Indicating that not only did our company make
it; but also the purity of the metals used. And we hope you
will enjoy it!
Many
of these stones can and probably have been mistaken for Turquoise
And
we
are quite
sure many are even sold as such.

Care
This
stone is Considered soft in comparison to many stones;
therefore, we do not suggest you using tumblers for polishing nor do
we suggest using other methods. Light Steam or otherwise may not hurt
it. If you need to Polish it up we have included a polishing
cloth. Otherwise use a mild dish detergent that does not contain
bleaches or other dying agents. Blue Dawn is recommended; and a soft
toothbrush with warm to hot water. And polish it up. If you
must use Tarnish Removers, do not get it on the stone. It could
create problems. Due to the softness of these stones, these
stones are not suggested for everyday use. Generally stones
rated 7 or below on Moh's Hardness are not a good idea for everyday
use. Even so, keep it protected from scratching and when
storing it.
It
should be noted, we have tumble polished a similar stone that has
been set, and there did not seem to be damage to it. Yet it was only
a light-short tumble and a longer more aggressive one may cause
damage. Be on the safe side; avoid it.

Wax it up
If you want to keep this stone looking nice for a very long time; you may consider getting some Renaissance Wax. This wax is used by Museums to protect both natural artwork and gemstones; and a little bit goes a long ways. It is a micro-crystalline wax that dries instantly and leaves a soft sheen to the stone or the setting even. But it does give it added protection. We use it on much of our own Jewelry and can't be happier. It also deters tarnishing as silver loves to do. It's not a permanent solution like plating but you should be happy with it. Then again, plating silver with Rhodium or otherwise, is also not a permanent solution that will need to be redone in time. One reason we generally try to avoid it. Again, just a dab is fine. You do not need much of the wax for the job. A small container will last you a very long time. Use a soft cloth to apply.
Disclosures
All
sizes weights, or otherwise may be approximate and/or calibrated as
closely as possible. Pictures may vary from monitor to monitor
but the photos are taken in normal light with no enhancements. We
will not ever ever enhance colors or photos. We do not agree
with those that do. Simply put, it is deception! Much like the Chip
in the stone we noted, which creates the bulging on the right side;
most would not and will not relate it; though you may not be able to
see it, you, the buyer should know and why we took the precautions
that we might have in setting it.
